WHAT IS R-PET?
R-PET is a strong yet lightweight form of polyester (more precisely a mix of carbon, acid, and O2 molecules). When PET is recycled, it is called rPET (Recycled PET). Globally, PET is considered a strong, flexible, safe, and non-toxic form of plastic that is 100% recyclable. Since PET consists of so few and simple ingredients, it can be easily and efficiently recycled without reducing its strength or durability in its new form. Recycled PET becomes PET yarn, which uses 94% less water than oil-based PET fiber and 60% less energy in the production process. This results in a production with 40% less impact than the production of new polyester.
